Een snelle DNA-analyse voor de opsporing van foetale chromosoomafwijkingen

De triple en eerste trimester-screeningtesten, het uitgebreide echografische onderzoek en de leeftijd van de zwangere vrouw bepalen in sterke mate of er een verhoogd risico is op een numerieke chromosoomafwijking bij het ongeboren kind. Voor een snelle diagnose van de meest frequente foetale chromosoomafwijkingen werd recent een DNA-testmethode ontwikkeld, gebaseerd op de polymerase kettingreactie (PCR, Polymerase Chain Reaction).
