Cone Beam CT – Minder stralen, hogere resolutie
Eind december 2010 nam de dienst Radiologie van het AZ Sint-Jan Brugge-Oostende AV een nieuwe Cone Beam CT (CBCT) in gebruik. Het gaat om een CBCT-scanner van de tweede generatie, het eerstevan dit type dat geïnstalleerd werd in ons land en het derde wereldwijd. De belangrijkste eigenschappen van dit toestel zijn dat het beelden met extreem hoge resolutie kan maken en meer indicaties aankan dan de CBCT’s van de eerste generatie.
Cone-beam CT in AZ Sint-Jan
Op de dienst Radiologie – Medische Beeldvorming werd in april 2006 een nieuw type CT in gebruik genomen in nauwe samenwerking met de dienst Mond-, Kaak- en Aangezichtschirurgie. De Cone-beam CT van het merk i-CAT, zoals die in het AZ Sint-Jan AV werd aangeschaft laat toe om patiënten in zittende houding te scannen en is het eerste exemplaar van dit type in de Benelux. Gezien het hier om een nieuwe techniek gaat, wensen we deze toch even toe te lichten.
